DURBANVILLE BEER FESTIVAL & ANYTHING THAT FLOATS DAY.
The ‘Durbanville Beer Festival’ & ‘Anything That Floats Day’ was held at the Hill Crest wine estate on the 10th December which brought along with it thousands of people from all around Cape Town.
The competition was won hands down by the “Drainmen Services” team which had made a very interesting “floater” (a glorified piece of floating poo!). David Olivier from Drainmen Head Office and Franchisor said “This was the brilliant idea of Kerryn, our Drainmen General Manager, who came up with the concept of a floating turd! The idea was not only promote Drainmen Services but to inspire a few laughs too.
Gary Charnley in our Technical & Workshop division at Head Office took 3 days to build the boat named “Floater” and when he finished it REALLY looked great… well it looked interesting!” Stirring up the crowd,Drainmen Services raised funds on the day for the NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute)Melkbosstrand station by taking the public on their ‘Floater’ around the Hill Crest dam which was thoroughly enjoyed by Moms, Dads and kids alike !
The first person on the ‘floater’ and to support the NSRI with Drainmen Services was the celebrity and well known personality Soli Philander from ‘The Taxi Radio’. Whilst enjoying the scenery on the day Taxi Radio broadcasted live from the event with their crew. The organisers ‘Paparazzi Studios’, Marnette Meyer commented “With a consistently good turnout for the beer festival 2 years in a row now running we will definitely be organizing this event again for next year 2012 !”
DRAINMEN ON T
.V &RADIO :
Drainmen Services were interviewed on ‘The Taxi Radio’ by Nick Plummer on the day and many laughs were interchanged by both parties. This was an informative interview of the day and what the involvement of Drainmen Services was. The Paperazzi video camera crew headed by Marnette Meyer also conducted an interview with David Olivier (Drainmen Franchisor), Soli Philander (Taxi Radio MD) and David Hope (Drainmen Tygerberg Franchisee) about the Beerfest and their respective businesses involvement. It was mentioned that Drainmen not only build superb floating vessels but also undertake all forms of plumbing work, professionally ; ) This was a good promotional day for many companies and as was mentioned all the proceeds for the day was donated to the NSRI.
A big thank you to Drainmen Services, The Taxi Radio, Paparaz
zi Studios and all the other participants on the day.
